Virginia first started practicing yoga when she had a running related injury that prevented her from most other exercise. Practicing a couple times a week quickly turned into nearly every day and no longer just an alternative form of exercise. She was hooked by the challenge yoga presented as well as the physical and mental benefits that came with it.
Virginia practices yoga because it gives her the opportunity to remove herself from day to day distractions and focus inwardly. What started off as a practice purely for the physical benefits has helped not only her fitness and running performance, but also reduced stress and helped her become more relaxed. Yoga reminds her not to take herself too seriously and to make time for taking care of myself. In May of 2014, she completed her 200 hour Registed Yoga Teacher at Y2 Yoga under Tanner Bazemore and Johnna Smith.
Her goal as a teacher is to help her students find the best version of themselves on their mats and realize that the practice can be incorporated into everyday life after they leave the studio.
