“Yoga is the study of balance, and balance is the aim of all living creatures: it is our home” – Rolf Gates
My name is Katie, but you can call me Tater. Everyone else does. I like to think that had my brother known that his butchering of my name the day I was born would land me a nickname for life, he might have conjured up something more thrilling than a humble root vegetable. Probably not, though.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, a Master’s degree in Nutrition and a love for trashy reality television that negates any value my higher education might hold. My professional background is in marketing and PR, and I’m still trying to figure out how it all fits together so I became a yoga teacher. Naturally.
I’ve been practicing yoga for five years and, in short, it has completely changed my life. It has changed my body and my mind and my relationships with others. It erased years of disordered eating habits, empowered me to go my own way in a world where all too often we let others’ expectations direct our course, and encouraged me to share what I’ve learned with anyone who will listen.
I completed my 200-hour RYT training under the guidance of the incomparable Johnna Smith and Tanner Bazemore in May 2012 and am forever grateful for their patience, encouragement, support and filthy sailor mouths.
Please feel free to contact me below or catch me at the studio. I pretty much live there.
