Yoga + Physical Therapy Workshop
with Hannah Blanton and PT Molly Capella
Saturday, August 20 from 4-6 p.m.
Do your shoulders hurt in chaturunga? Have you pulled hamstrings? Do you ever feel pain during your practice? Then THIS is the workshop for YOU! Learn how to tap into intuition and use proper muscle groupings to build a stronger, safer, smarter yoga practice. You’ll leave more confident and have a plan to prevent injury during your practice.
Heyam Dukham Anagatam
This means that “Pain that is not yet upon us and is avoidable.”
Together with yoga and physical therapy we’ll explore our yoga flow and learning how to recognize tightness, injury, overuse and the proper ways to stretch, rest, and use modifications. Sometimes we insist on holding that yoga pose for as long as everyone else in class, maybe even longer, even though we know it will hurt our backs later. We buy that irresistible item even though we know we will suffer when the credit card statement comes next month. Perhaps Patanjali is telling us – when you hear that tiny little voice in your head that says whoa, are you sure you want to do this? – that you, at the very least, stop and carefully consider.
