Y2 Yoga - 300 Hour Advanced Yoga Studies

Y2 Yoga is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS) located in Charlotte, North Carolina. We offer two 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) Advanced Yoga Studies yearly, Winter and Summer. We have completed 15 trainings and graduated over 300 yogis from our 200-hour power yoga teacher training program.

From the radical self inquiry of the 200 hr level we now collaborate and take conscious action out into the world as a community. We will contribute to individuals and communities in need, by sharing the powerful tools and techniques of Y2 Yoga. When the timeless principles of Yoga are practiced, we believe that our struggles can be transcended, bringing light into darkness.

300 Hour Advanced Yoga Studies Schedule

The training will take place over the course of 12 weekends. Here is the schedule and high-level curriculum for each.*All weekends are available for open enrollment  EXCEPT  for the final weekend.


Some workshops as part of this course are 2 days (Saturday – Sunday) and others are 3 days (Friday-Sunday).  During 2 day workshop weekends ONLY participants enrolled in the 300hr Advanced Studies program will be allowed to participate during Friday nights activities.

Thai Yoga Massage with Acupoints Level I
NCBTMB Approved CE hours : 21 hours
Course Description: Introduce Thai Yoga Massage and Acupoints

Course Outline and learning outcomes:


  • Learn proper body mechanics and body positioning of both practitioner and client, which are fundamental to successfully and safely give a Thai massage.
  • Learn body movements and techniques that are unique to Thai massage.
  • Learn body contacts, the placement of hands, thumbs, palms and feet.
  • Learn location of 8 acupoints and the respective organ meridian. The meridians of the gall bladder, liver, stomach and spleen will be covered in this level.
  • Some acupoints are contraindicated during pregnancy. Learn 3 of these contraindicated points.
  • Learn the definition and benefits of using the source and luo points.
  • Demonstration by instructor of the 42 poses in 4 positions (seated, supine, side-lying, prone)
  • Students will practice with each other after each demonstration.
  • Practice and receive a complete 90 min session with fellow classmates at end of course.

Thai Yoga Massage with Acupoints Level II
NCBTMB Approved CE hours : 21 hours 4
Course Description: Another full set of sequence of positions to do another 90 min session.

Prerequisite: Level I

Course Outline and learning outcomes:


  • Learn more body contacts such as knees and learn to use multiple contacts at once.
  • Learn 45 new poses in all four body positions.
  • Learn location of 11 acupoints and the respective organ meridian. The meridians of the lung, large intestine, heart and small intestine will be covered in this level.
  • The Chinese clock and significant categories of points.
  • Demonstration by instructor of the 4 positions (seated, supine, side-lying, prone).
  • Students will practice with each other after each demonstration.
  • Practice and receive a complete 90 min session with fellow classmates at end of course.

Meet Your 300 Hour Advanced Studies Instructors

Tanner Bazemore: Tanner is the owner of Y2 Yoga and the creator of the signature style of power yoga that is taught at Y2. A 15-year veteran of the fitness industry, Tanner became a certified personal trainer in 2002 and completed yoga teacher training with Grace Morales in 2008. Tanner has also completed Thai Massage Practitioner Training with Saul David Raye.


Tanner’s knowledge of anatomy, sequencing and assisting is unmatched. Tanner also has a knack for adding comedic relief to teacher training at just the right time.

Johnna Smith

Johnna Smith: From Charlotte, North Carolina, Johnna (500-ERYT) is a Level 1 Certified ParaYoga® Instructor through founder, YogaRupa Rod Stryker. She is also a Certified Baptiste Teacher®. Her studies and passion has, ongoing for the last 10 years, taken her to India to practice with the late, legendary Guru Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson R. Sharath, of Mysore.


Johnna teaches locally and internationally, connecting people to the powerful and sweet teachings of Tantra, Ashtanga and Power Yoga. “Our divine birthright is Joy.” She roots this ancient message within her workshops, master classes and co-lead advanced yoga studies. Her mission is to awaken the world to the yogic teachings, to awaken each dormant heart, and inspire everyone.
