Have you ever wondered, "What in the world is going on in the dark, upstairs studio at 6AM in the morning?" or, "What's that class with the crazy name at the top of the schedule?" Well, it's Ashtanga. Ashtanga Yoga is the O.G. of modern-day Vinyasa styles of yoga and is the original Power Yoga (we have receipts, itemized with deductions). The transitions of Ashtanga Yoga will build an internal strength that will take your current Vinyasa practice to the next level. For those who are new to yoga, your foundation will be so strong that you can take any Vinyasa class with no problem. Seriously. The physical practice, coupled with the philosophy of Ashtanga yoga, will leave people saying, "Thank you, may I have some more?" (and, yes, you may!)

- June 21: What is Ashtanga Yoga? 6-8P

“Is it a workout?” “How do you even pronounce it?” “Why chant mantras, and if I do, does that mean I'm in some sort of cult?” Come and see (we don't bite...hard). Dress comfortably. No physical practice. Pull up a chair. Pack a dinner. Just show up and learn from the pros.

- June 22: Intro to Physical Practice 1:45PM-3:45PM

Dive into the pool head first (but not in the shallow end). A quick and dirty overview of what you will be looking at for the rest of the week, AKA Led Ashtanga Full Primary Series.

- June 23: Break It Down, Build It Up 8A-10A

Now that you are all fired up, let's break down the poses and make them work for your body.

- June 23: Yoga Studio Talks 10A-11A

Ashtanga has 8 parts or "limbs" (and so does an octopus, they can also eat their own limbs if they get hungry and grow it right back, and we think that is really cool). The physical practice is just one of them.  This will be a deeper dive into the philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga; which means you leave having been schooled with some really good sh*t.

- June 24-27:  7AM-9:30AM Morning Sutra Talk and Mysore Practice.

Mysore Style (our favorite), named after the city in India where this style originated, is where you build a Yoga practice for life.  A teacher will work with you and get the practice into your bones so you can do it anywhere and anytime. It becomes yours (like a parking ticket, but better than a parking ticket).  We will continue to talk about philosophy so you can live yoga during the other 22 hours of the day. Congrats, you'll have 99 problems but a yoga practice won't be one!
