What if I have low back pain?

This is very common in our society and sitting is a major contributor. Having said that, you yoga can still be practiced and eventually help heal the imbalances that lead to low back pain.
First tip: if it hurts DON’T DO THAT! Yoga should feel good, not bad. There is a difference between feeling discomfort and feeling pain, listen to your body.
Second tip: slightly bend your knees. It is contraindicated to lock out your legs when folding forward at the waist if you have chronic low back pain, OR if you have to excessively round your lower back to achieve the position. See the guy at the top of this page? That is excessive rounding, don’t do that; bend your knees and save your spine!
