The temperatures are rising in Charlotte and that means one thing…summer is coming. The summer months bring lots of fun activities in and around Charlotte. One of the all time favorite summer activities is eating ice cream. Whether a kid, teenager, or adult, eating ice-cream “screams” summer fun. With so many options in Charlotte, where do you go for your favorite summer treat. Here are a few of our favorite spots:
Jeni’s Ice Cream: located in South End, Noda and Park Road Shopping Center. Jeni’s ice cream mission is to “make the best ice creams possible and make the world a better place. … Our ice creams have a uniquely smooth texture and buttercream body, with bright flavor and clean finish.” Jeni’s does not use synthetic flavorings, dyes, or off-the-shelf mixes. Jeni’s top flavors are: Brambleberry Crisp, Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Darkest Chocolate, Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks, and Salty Caramel.
Golden Cow Creamery: located in South Park and South End. Golden Cow Creamery was founded by North Carolina. Their flavors are inspired by North Carolina’s diverse food
culture as well as other fun and unique flavors sourced from around the country and the world. They make all ice cream by hand in small batches from scratch with real milk, cream, and sugar or coconut. Coconut is used for our monthly rotating vegan option. You will not find any artificial syrups, bagged ice cream mix, stabilizers, filler, or food coloring in the ice cream. Golden Cow has six classic flavors; Rich Chocolate, Creamy Vanilla, Fresh Strawberry, Mint Chocolate Chip, Salted Oreo and Dunkaroos. Plus another eight rotating flavors from our ever increasing recipe book to keep you excited and guessing what we will come up with next.
The Local Scoop: located in the Promenade in South Charlotte and Downtown Matthews. The Local Scoop has mouth watering flavors with all locally sourced ingredients. Top flavors include: key lime pie, birthday cake, blondie, cinnamon brown sugar, cookie monster, honey vanilla, sea salted caramel and sweet cream
Ninety’s Ice Cream: located in the University area of Charlotte Ninety’s is a family owned dessert shop based out of Charlotte. Their expertise is creating some of the most unique dessert creations. Some of the most popular desserts include: Cookie Monster Yum-EE Bun, R U Cereal Yum-EE bun and Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwiches
