Dorie Fusaro describes her yoga in one word: Necessary.
“I am a better mother, friend, partner, employee, daughter and human being because of what I’ve gained from my yoga practice,” she says.
The busy mother of two, Dorie is a an avid hugger and yoga evangelist, encouraging anyone and everyone to give it a try. Dorie’s oldest daughter, Alexa, is a sophmore at ECU and completed her 200-hour teacher training program as a sophomore in high school. Dorie’s youngest daughter has also been bitten by the yoga bug and is a high school senior.
“Yoga completely changed my life,” Dorie says. “When I started Teacher training I did it solely to expand my own practice, but quickly decided I wanted to teach so I could be part of something bigger and share all I learned from my yoga practice.”
Dorie completed her RYT-230 certification with renowned instructor Stephanie Keach at Asheville Yoga Center and is E-RYT certified, as well. She has also taught paddleboard and Acro yoga over the years.
With over 15 years of practice and teaching since 2009, Dorie brings a beautiful balance of experience and exploration into her classes, encouraging students to abandon their preconceived notions about what yoga is and just have fun. Her light-hearted attitude and positive energy are infectious and authentic.
When she’s not in the studio or with her girls, or girlfriend, Kari (also a yoga teacher in Charlotte) and the rest of her zoo, you’ll find Dorie enjoying live music, new restaurants, art shows and anything fun and new with her friends. As an ambitious adventurer, Dorie hopes to practice yoga in all 50 states and as many countries as she can fit into one lifetime. Dorie is also a licensed mortgage banker as her full time gig and can be found at www.doriejoymortgage.com
